learning

We may not realise it but we learn everyday. It could be the words to a new song, how to work a DVD player or how to send an email. Remember that feeling you had when you learned to do something new when you were younger? Learning something new or brushing up skills you haven't used for a while can give you that feeling again.

Learning now is very different from what you might remember when you were at school. You can learn at a time and place that suits you, such as

  • the accommodation project you're currently in
  • in your local community - in a community centre or library
  • your local college
  • online with a computer

You decide what you want to learn at a pace that you feel comfortable with. You will usually learn in small groups with a tutor to help and guide you to reach your goals. Learning can help you

  • improve your confidence
  • take more control of your life
  • move on to training, volunteering or get a job
  • become more involved in your community
