local libraries
Libraries are a great place to visit if you want free access to books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, newspapers and so on. They are now very keen that everyone use them, the staff are more than happy to help you find your way around if it's your first visit.
If you live, work or study in Glasgow you can become a library member by simply dropping into your nearest library and completing a short from. Staff are there to help if you feel you would need some help with this.
Joining is completely free but you may need 2 ID documents to confirm your membership. Some of the ID documents that can be used are:
- driving licence
- council tax payment form
- rent book
- a recent bill from a utility provider such as a telephone or gas company
In some cases you may be able to join with one form of identification as long as it's an offical document or card and has your signature on it.
Most libraries have free access to computers, book groups, creative writing workshops, information and and advice sessions and other free activities. If you want a quiet place to read or study some libraries have areas you can use.
