Glasgow Winter Night Shelter

The Glasgow Winter Night Shelter began as an emergency response to the extremely harsh winter of 2010, and has continued each winter to date. Actively supported by a range of third sector services, and delivered by Glasgow City Mission, GWNS has provided crisis response and respite for those sleeping rough, or at risk of sleeping rough, across the city.

GHN – with the much appreciated assistance of our own volunteers and member organisations – has provided monitoring and reporting capacity to GWNS since its’ inception.

Using a voluntary survey questionnaire, the monitoring has had a focus on service users’ routes into homelessness, and the level of engagement with (and outcomes obtained from) the statutory homelessness services in the city.
