Scottish Homelessness Involvement and Empowerment Network

We sometimes describe people who expereince homelessness alongside other forms of exclusion and inequality as the Hardest to Reach, who become the Easiest to Exclude.

Workshops at the National Conference considered how to achieve best practice in engaging some of the easiest to exclude groups in service user involvement activities.

The groups addressed were not exhaustive; many were drawn from the expertise of those whom SHIEN has worked in partnership with over the past year. It is worth noting that each of the discussions are collaborative, and have input from individuals from organisations across Scotland.

• Positive engagement of minority ethnic groups in services

• Reducing barriers to participating in services for those with impairments
